In 2010, Blaby County Council revealed plans to develop Lubbesthorpe parish. They wanted to create New Lubbesthorpe, a town of 4250 houses, schools and industrial areas. It had been six years since I photographed Lubbesthorpe Bridle Road, and I was shocked by the news. Nearly all the rural aspects of the area would disappear.
Over the next few years, I spent many hours walking a few minutes from home and around the parish. I photographed field boundaries, trees, weather, land use and seasonal changes. Today, most of these views have disappeared. There is now a community that does not know how it was before. I intend to take more photographs to show how Lubbesthorpe has changed.
