Leicestershire contains 233 civil parishes and is not a county noted for its scenery or quaint buildings. By some standards, it is ordinary. I have cycled along every lane in the county multiple times and walked many miles. Such exploration engenders curiosity about local history, regional geography, past industries and more. I have taken photographs in every parish and researched stories to support many of them. Parochial Leicestershire is an intrinsically rewarding project and a work in progress. It has made me realise that many fascinating things can be found on our doorstep.
